E-Blast: Back in the 164th, Federal Actions & more!

Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,

It was nice to have a week back in the 164th Legislative District. However, recent federal actions have made the work in Harrisburg much more urgent.

The sweeping tariffs out of Washington D.C. threaten to make the lives of everyday Americans much more difficult. Groceries, gas, and other necessary goods are about to become much more expensive all while billionaires continue to get massive tax cuts.

We're continuing to work in the legislature to introduce and improve programs to make lives easier here in the Commonwealth. Whether its fighting to raise the minimum wage, continuing to invest in our schools, or expanding programs that provide assistance and put more money in your pocket, my colleagues and I are always looking for ways to help you!

There are two great programs that can help save you money in the face of these upcoming financial challenges. The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program puts money back into the pockets of renters and homeowners all cross Pennsylvania! Additionally, the SNAP program can help you and your family get assistance with healthy groceries. My office can check your eligibility and get you started with both programs!

These are just some of the ways that my team and I can help you! Visit the full list of state government services by using the button below!

KYW Bridging Philly

This week I had an amazing opportunity to participate in an interview on KYW’s Bridging Philly with Racquel Williams around the disparities, and health care inequities that continue to directly impact the black maternal outcomes in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I had the privilege of sitting on an esteemed panel with Jenné Johns, founder of Once Upon a Preemie and Saleemah McNeil, founder of Oshun Family Center.

Philabundance Roundtable Discussion

On Tuesday, I joined PA House Speaker Joanna McClinton for a roundtable discussion with Philabundance and other local anti-hunger organizations. With food costs rising, federal policy changes impacting SNAP and school meals, and increased pressure on food pantries, this discussion gave us firsthand insight into the realities of food insecurity in our communities. You can watch the speaker and I recap our discussion through the link here

Delco Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards Breakfast

It was my pleasure and my honor to attend the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards Breakfast. I was excited to celebrate my longtime family friend Lawrence James who received the Small Business Catalyst Award. I was also excited to attend the breakfast with state Senator Kearney and fellow state Rep. Jennifer O’Mara.

Take Advantage of Pa's Child and Dependent Care Enhancement Tax Credit

I’m reminding eligible residents to take advantage of Pennsylvania’s Child and Dependent Care Enhancement Tax Credit before the April 15, 2025, tax filing deadline. This credit, expanded under a law that I introduced, provides financial relief to working families with child or dependent care expenses.

The credit matches 100% of the federal Child Care Tax Credit, offering a maximum of $1,050 for one child/dependent and $2,100 for two or more, with minimums of $600 and $1,200, respectively. Eligibility includes expenses for children under 13, spouses, or other dependents who are physically or mentally incapable of self-care. The credit is refundable, meaning taxpayers can receive a full refund after tax obligations.

To claim the credit, taxpayers must file a PA-40 form along with PA Schedule DC, Federal Form 2441, and 1040 Schedule 3. The Department of Revenue encourages filing through myPATH, Pennsylvania’s free online tax filing system.

You can find more information about the tax credit here or contact my office.
