Busy in Harrisburg and delivering in the district!

Dear Neighbors,

This week, my House colleagues and I passed important bills that will help our neighbors and improve communities:

We’re making Big Tech pay their fair share by taxing digital ads (HB 1678) and using every penny to prevent property tax hikes for older homeowners. We’re also expanding housing options and helping people afford to stay in their communities by preventing arbitrary limits on unrelated roommates, also known as the Golden Girls Law (HB 2109).

We’re supporting families by guarding the right to fertility treatments in Pennsylvania (HB 836).

We’re supporting workers and small businesses by allowing small business owners to claim a tax credit for contributing to their employees’ health insurance premiums through Pennie.

We’re supporting our first responders by helping volunteer, municipal, and combined fire companies pay for new trucks, safety gear, and station upgrades (HB 2446).

We’re ensuring that every vote counts in a timely manner by allowing counties to pre-canvass mail ballots (HB 37) and keeping foreign money out of elections (HB 497).

We’re expanding protections against nonconsensual sharing of real or AI-generated intimate images (HB 2252).

We’re protecting your health by banning PFAS “forever chemicals” in cosmetics, dental floss, juvenile products, and menstrual products (HB 2145).

Always in service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

Team Carroll in the Community

On June 5th, I was proud to attend the Pride Flag Raising at City Hall alongside fellow elected officials, community leaders, colleagues, and residents. It was wonderful to see so many people come together in a spirit of unity, inclusion, and celebration.

Events like this are a meaningful reminder of the strength and diversity that make our community so special. Thank you to everyone who helped organize this event and to all who came out to show their support. Wishing everyone a joyful and happy Pride Month!

On June 6th, I had the pleasure of attending the SquashSmarts Graduation and Retirement Celebration honoring Jeanie Shanahan. It was wonderful to celebrate such a special milestone with her and wish her all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter in retirement. It was also incredibly inspiring to hear about all the students’ accomplishments and see how much they have grown during their time with SquashSmarts. Watching young people achieve great things and build strong foundations for their futures is always so rewarding. Congratulations to all of the graduates on their hard work and achievements, and a heartfelt congratulations to Jeanie Shanahan on her retirement. Wishing you all continued success and happiness in the journeys ahead!

On June 6th, I went to Black Men’s Wellness Day hosted by Senator Sharif Street and Councilman Jeffrey Young! It was incredible learning about all the wellness programs I had no idea about before and to see first hand their work in action. Thank you Senator Street and Councilman Young for all that you do. I’m super happy events like this are hosted to help better our communities!

On June 6th, I was an Honorary Chair at American Kennel Club USA 250 Celebration. I love dogs so when the opportunity arose to be a honorary chair at this event, I was ecstatic. It was wonderful to meet all the different dogs breeds and watch them compete in agility challenges. Thank you American Kennel Club for allowing me to participate in this event and I hope to be at future events as well!

On June 11th, Team Carroll Attended Parkway North West’s Partners luncheon! This was a great way to get updated on all the wonderful accomplishments and progress the school has made this year. It also was a wonderful opportunity to connect with other community partners to see how we can help each other! Thank you Principal Mills and Staff for putting together this amazing event. We hope to grow our partnership and continue to support in any way we can!

On June 9th and 10th, I was honored to be a keynote speaker at  Martin Luther King High School’s Graduation and Team Carroll attended Roosevelt Elementary’s 8th grade graduation. It’s always inspiring to celebrate our young people as they reach important milestones and take the next step in their journey. Congratulations to all of the graduates on this well-deserved achievement! To the parents, families, teachers, and staff, thank you for the love, guidance, encouragement, and dedication you have poured into these students. Your support has helped make this moment possible and has laid a strong foundation for their future. We are so proud of each graduate and excited to see all the amazing things they will accomplish in the years ahead. Thank you MLK High School for giving me the opportunity to give these kids a few words of wisdom before they embark on their next journey!
