Bradford announces $367,796 to help keep Montco grade schoolers safe

(Jun 09, 2022)

HARRISBURG, June 9 – State Rep. Matt Bradford announced today that Mission Kids, located in Ea st Norriton Township, is receiving $367,796 to support their work with children and young adults. The state grant, which was funded through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, will focus on critical violence prevention. “This specialized work performed by Mission Kids is incredibly valuable to our community. We are so fortunate to have them in our region,” Bradford said. The PCCD, in collaboration with the Child Maltreatment Solutions Network at Penn State University, announced the Endowment Act funding to support a new pilot prevention research program. Over the last four years, PCCD and CMSN implemented a three-pronged pilot prevention program that served more than 16,000 second graders and 14,000 parents. Due to the success of that project, and the need to implement a more universal parent education component, PCCD and CMSN will implement a two-year pilot that will include two programs to be implemented within different segments of the community. House Democratic leaders decry Republican inaction on gun safety legislation

(May 26, 2022)

“Tragically, we find ourselves in a continued cycle of inactivity on commonsense gun safety legislation following the death of 10 adults in Buffalo and 19 students and three teachers in Uvalde, Texas. Republican leadership in the House of Representatives has been in near complete control for almost 30 years and they refuse to even allow debate on the most widely supported bipartisan gun safety legislation. They’ve shown that the loss of Pennsylvanians to gun violence, which our own communities experience far too often, isn’t enough to spur them to action. Now we know neither is the massacre of grocery shoppers in Buffalo or innocent children and teachers in Uvalde. Read more

Email Update: May 25

(May 25, 2022)

I want to first express the heartbreak I share with all of you over yesterday’s horrific events in Uvalde, Texas, claiming the lives of 19 young children and two adults. As the father of four school age children, I am appalled—again. As a legislator, I am frustrated—continually. We must find the political will to enact common sense legislation to address this slow motion and uniquely American tragedy. My thoughts are with every parent, student, and educator struggling with this today. Read more

House Democrats: We have the resources to fully fund education

(May 02, 2022)

“All year, Pennsylvania’s revenues have come in much higher than anticipated, leading to a historic surplus of $4.5 billion so far this fiscal year. The General Assembly should seize the opportunity to invest in our kids as Governor Wolf proposed in his budget, while still prudently maintaining the $2.8 billion we have in state savings and planning to use the $2.1 billion remaining from the American Rescue Plan wisely to help Pennsylvanians with an eye toward the future.
