Bradford announces $4M for local improvement projects

NORRISTOWN, Oct. 23 – State Rep. Matt Bradford today announced $4 million in state funding for local projects that will improve safety and quality of life throughout central Montgomery County.
“Each of these projects will make a difference in our communities, and this significant state funding will go a long way to make Montco a better place to live, learn, work and play,” said Bradford, D-Montgomery. “I’m grateful to the Shapiro administration for making these important investments.”
The state funding is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that is responsible for the funding of programs and investments focused on economic growth.
The following projects were approved:
Perkiomen Valley School District: $1.1 million for fire safety upgrades at Perkiomen Valley High School, Perkiomen Valley Middle School West, Schwenksville Elementary School, Skippack Elementary School and South Elementary School.
East Norriton Township: $340,000 for the purchase of a special-service support vehicle for Norriton Fire Engine Co.
Lower Frederick Township: $400,000 for the purchase of a fire truck for Lower Frederick Fire Co., which also serves Schwenksville Borough residents.
Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority: $200,000 to install a shade structure at the bocce courts at Meadowood Senior Living in Worcester Township.
Perkiomen Township: $70,000 to help offset costs associated with the procurement of a leaf vacuum, leaf boxes and necessary radio equipment for use in composting and emergency management programs.
Schwenksville Borough: $999,754 to complete building updates and repairs at the Perkiomen Valley Library and $100,000 to restore and improve Summit Avenue, Game Farm Road and Highland Avenue as part of the borough’s efforts to improve pedestrian safety.
West Norriton Township: $298,354 for the purchase of a vehicle and equipment to be used for snow plowing, salting and collecting leaves and other yard waste. The township was also awarded $200,000 for improvements to Centennial Park, including the construction of an amphitheater and a covered stage structure, reconstruction of segments of the trail system within the park to provide accessible routes, and installation of an accessible restroom facility.
Worcester Township: $111,442 to equip two of the township’s vehicles with dump truck bodies and $200,000 for engineering costs associated with the replacement of the Kriebel Mill Road bridge.
