Abney celebrates $260,000 in state funding for safer sidewalks and streetlights around David L. Lawrence Convention Center

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 20 – State Rep. Aerion A. Abney, D-Allegheny, announced today that $260,306 in state funding will support sidewalk repairs and replace streetlights around the David L. Lawrence Convention Center to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.

“The convention center attracts visitors from across the country to downtown Pittsburgh and is surrounded by many of our city’s top attractions. That's why it's essential to ensure the area is safe and accessible for pedestrians and bicyclists,” said Abney. “I’m pleased to see an investment from PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund that will improve the infrastructure that supports both our community and our visitors.”

The Multimodal Transportation Fund aims to provide financial assistance to municipalities, councils of governments, businesses, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, and ports and rail freight entities to improve transportation assets.

The investment is part of over $51 million in funding to support 66 crucial transportation projects across Pennsylvania. More information on the Multimodal Transportation Fund can be found here: https://www.penndot.pa.gov/ProjectAndPrograms/MultimodalProgram/Pages/default.aspx.
