Pisciottano applauds $2.1 million in school safety grants

PCCD awards to enhance school security

PITTSBURGH, May 8 – State Rep. Nick Pisciottano announced today more than $2.1 million in school safety grants have been awarded to local schools during the 2023-24 fiscal year by the School Safety and Security Committee of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

“Investing our tax dollars in school security programs is one of the best ways we can keep our kids safe,” said Pisciottano, D-Allegheny. “Under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, I’m glad to see the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency taking the initiative to provide schools across the Commonwealth the resources they need to create safe learning environments.”

School safety grant recipients in Pisciottano’s 38th Legislative District include:

  • Baldwin-Whitehall: $201,258
  • McKeesport Area: $539,407
  • Pittsburgh: $1,041,016
  • South Allegheny: $154,185
  • West Mifflin: $169,437

During the 2023-24 fiscal year, a total of $155 million in federal and state school safety funding has been approved by the School Safety and Security Committee of PCCD.
