Allegheny House Dems: $8.3 million in tax credits awarded to local organizations

NAP tax credits to support revitalization efforts

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 22 – More than $8.3 million in tax credits has been awarded to Allegheny County community organizations through the state’s Neighborhood Assistance Program, members of the Allegheny County Democratic Delegation to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives announced today.

“These tax credits are essential to the preservation and improvement of communities that need urgent assistance,” state Rep. Aerion A. Abney said. “Whether putting more roofs over the heads of people, providing food resources, or helping local businesses expand, I applaud all the great work these tax credits will do by encouraging private investment.”

“Our district’s charitable nonprofits are constantly working to improve quality of life for residents, but they can’t do it alone,” state Rep. Abigail Salisbury said. “Fortunately, tax credits can be a powerful tool to spur new investments. The newly awarded tax credits are going to boost key projects to fight blight and attract new businesses, expand affordable housing, and continue treatment programs and related services for residents.”

Some of the larger tax credits awarded in the county include:

  • $540,000 to Hill Community Development Corp. for home preservation projects and projects to deliver resources for business owners and entrepreneurs.
  • $400,000 to Wilkinsburg Community Development Corp. to support efforts to strengthen the Central Business District, improve quality of life for residents, continue attracting new homeowners and businesses, and improve the borough’s fiscal health and sustainability.
  • $400,000 to Northside Leadership Conference Inc. for a project to support affordable housing development, commercial real estate, small business support, parks and greenspace planning, and restoration, infrastructure investments, and public health initiatives.
  • $380,000 to Operation Better Block for affordable housing programs and neighborhood assistance.
  • $320,000 to Hilltop Economic Development Corp. for projects involving business and housing assistance.
