Young announces $15 million in redevelopment grants

HARRISBURG, Nov. 1 – Today, state Rep. Regina Young, D-Phila./Delaware, announced that $15 million has been awarded to eight projects in the 185th Legislative District from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.
Young praised the investments in the area for their widespread impact and potential.
“Each of these projects will have an impact not only in South and Southwest Philadelphia, but across Southeastern Pennsylvania. These grants will facilitate increased tourism, recreation and job creation and continue to build our economy,” said Young.
“I’m thankful for the vision of the Shapiro administration to invest in our region by helping with the redevelopment of these locally significant sites.”
The eight project are as follows:
- $250,000 to the Fairmount Park Conservancy for the Picnic and Play phase of the FDR Park Plan.
- $500,000 to Philadelphia Mural Arts Advocates for the FloatLab project.
- $500,000 to Campanella Development LLC for Greater Philadelphia Health Action at 2230 Island Ave.
- $3 million to Operating Engineers Joint Apprenticeship Training Fund of Philadelphia, Eastern Pennsylvania for the IUOE Local 542 JATC Indoor Equipment Training Center.
- $6 million to Philly Shipyard Inc. for Philly Shipyard Office and Material Logistics Expansion.
- $1 million to City of Philadelphia, Department of Aviation for PHL Airport Terminals D-E Hold Room Improvements.
- $3.25 million to Rhoads Industries/Industrial Metals Manufacturing LLC for Rhoads Industries Building 57 Defense Manufacturing Facility.
- $500,000 to John Bartram Association (aka Bartram's Garden) for Trail Access Improvements.
The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a Pennsylvania grant program for the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects have a regional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity. RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
