Supporting First Responders

Video

I was proud to present a check for over $15,000 to the Tinicum Township Fire Co. at Station 48 in Essington this week. Volunteer fire and emergency companies are the backbone of our communities and I’m committed to do everything possible to help their operations. This grant will help with the costs associated with upgrading their river rescue operations and support our brave first responders in Tinicum Township. Watch the video above for highlights from our presentation.

Humanity Should Matter

Video

This week, I joined a rally to call for better protection in the workplace from psychological abuse and harassment. It’s estimated that 48.6 million Americans are bullied at their workplace, which is unacceptable. In this Women’s History Month, it’s important for us to recognize how women, in particular, can face trauma from psychological abuse at their job, which can lead to lasting harmful effects. It’s time we prioritize people over property – workplace psychological safety should be a priority for all of us. Click above to watch my comments from our rally.

Happy Women’s History Month!

Video

I think it’s so important for women to share their stories to help uplift and encourage other women to achieve more than they might think they can do. That’s why I’m sharing stories of my life for Women’s History Month in a series of videos. Click above to watch my latest discussion about the committees that I serve on in the House, and why they are so important to the work that we do in Harrisburg.

Continuing the Conversation about Representation

Save the date for my next Women in Government discussion, as I’m joined by powerhouse guests, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon and Philadelphia City Council Majority Leader Katherine Gilmore Richardson! You can watch on my Facebook page or my website.

I’m proud to represent a legislative district where over 53% of the people are women. Your government should reflect who you are, so in 2025, I’m celebrating and highlighting the women who represent our communities at all levels of government with a monthly series of meetings and events that you should plan to attend to learn more about these amazing women, their achievements, the importance of representation, and how their work impacts our families and neighborhoods.

Click the graphic above to find our previous discussions and to RSVP for the April event.

Investing in Our Young People

I was so excited to join state Sen. Anthony Williams to announce a major investment in our students at John Bartram High School from The Michael Blackson Foundation! Ten incredible seniors at Bartram were each awarded $500 book scholarships to celebrate and support the hard work and dedication of these rising young individuals. This is in addition to the generous $10,000 donation to the school by The Michael Blackson Foundation - a proud alum of Bartram High School and comedian who has truly come full circle.

Nutrition Event Success!

I’m thankful for everyone who tuned in for my latest virtual workshop on Healthy Nutrition for Healthy Awareness Month. If you missed it, you can watch on my Facebook page or my website to learn more about how easy it is to make eating healthy a priority.

Confronting the Chaos

During our first Women in Government event, we talked a lot about the actions that are happening right now with the federal government in Washington, D.C. It has been very overwhelming with what seems like daily attacks on our neighbors, our freedoms and basic rights. Just remember that there are always people to help. If you are concerned about the actions being taken on immigration, I encourage you to contact these local organizations listed in this document. Additionally, while my office is here to assist you with state and local services, your concerns on these federal actions need to be heard by your federal officials. Check out the list of our congressional and senatorial officials and contact their offices for assistance or to let them know about your concerns. We’ve seen recently how advocacy and loud objections can lead to a course reversal or reevaluation by the president and his administration.

Don’t give up and don’t give in.

Know your rights and stay vigilant for your family and your community.

IN THE COMMUNITY

While I was in Harrisburg this week, my staff attended the Be Utility Wise Conference hosted by PECO and other utility companies. Contact my office if you need help with your utility bills!

We had a meaningful time at the Interfaith Iftar at City Hall this week.

Glad to see so many neighbors at the Broad Street West community meeting.

We’re connecting people with information and resources at St. Paul’s food pantry.
