Budget Hearings Complete in Harrisburg

Public hearings wrapped up this week with the PA House Appropriations Committee on Gov. Josh Shapiro’s 2025-26 budget proposal.

One of the most important questions I asked this week was of the Secretary of the Budget – what happens if federal funding ends for programs in our state, and if the government shuts down? The rhetoric out of Washington and in the media right now can be scary for a lot of people, so I wanted to know about the reality and the potential for issues for our communities. You can watch that discussion below.

With budget hearings completed, we will now take the information we’ve heard from agencies and use that to continue developing a plan that will work for our communities and all of Pennsylvania to ensure we’re moving forward and providing relief where we’re able to do so.

Happy Women’s History Month!

Video

I think it’s so important for women to share their stories to help uplift and encourage other women to achieve more than they might think they can do. That’s why I’m sharing stories of my life for Women’s History Month in a series of videos. Click above to watch my first discussion about pivotal moments in my life that have led me to where I’m at today.

Reducing Food Waste

This week, the House Agriculture Committee came to our district in Essington for an informational meeting on reducing food waste and insecurity. The meeting highlighted the power of collaboration between the public and private sectors in tackling these challenges for rural, suburban, and urban communities across Pennsylvania.

Healthy Awareness Month is expanding into March with an additional virtual workshop on Healthy Nutrition! Confronting the Chaos

During our first Women in Government event, we talked a lot about the actions that are happening right now with the federal government in Washington, D.C. It has been very overwhelming with what seems like daily attacks on our neighbors, our freedoms and basic rights. Just remember that there are always people to help. If you are concerned about the actions being taken on immigration, I encourage you to contact these local organizations listed in this document. Additionally, while my office is here to assist you with state and local services, your concerns on these federal actions need to be heard by your federal officials. Check out the list of our congressional and senatorial officials and contact their offices for assistance or to let them know about your concerns. We’ve seen recently how advocacy and loud objections can lead to a course reversal or reevaluation by the president and his administration.

Don’t give up and don’t give in.

Know your rights and stay vigilant for your family and your community.
