Offices Closed on Friday & Monday

A reminder that this Friday, Feb. 14, my offices will be closed for the day for the Philadelphia Eagles Championship Parade and celebration! Please be safe and enjoy this exciting day in our city! We’ll also be closed on Monday, Feb. 17 for President’s Day. Kindly leave us a voicemail or send an email if you have urgent needs and we’ll respond to you as soon as we’re able to do so.

We’ll reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 18 to serve you!

SEPTA service will be affected by the Eagles celebration on Friday, so please plan ahead and be patient if you are commuting, going to an appointment, or travelling to the parade. Eastwick station on the Regional Rail Airport Line will have limited service, and while rides on the Broad Street Line and Market-Frankford El will be free for the day, expect large crowds and limited stations. Snyder and Oregon stations will be open, but all other Broad Street Line stations up to Walnut-Locust will be closed. The 36 trolley will make all regular surface stops, with the exception of the shuttle buses between 80th St./Eastwick and 73rd St. & Elmwood Ave. due to construction, and have limited stops in the tunnel between the 40th St. Portal and 30th St./Drexel Station. Many bus routes have limited service or detours around the parade route.

Visit SEPTA’s Eagles Super Bowl Parade page for all the details.

Continuing the Conversation about Representation

I’m proud to represent a legislative district where over 53% of the people are women. Your government should reflect who you are, so in 2025, I’m celebrating and highlighting the women who represent our communities at all levels of government with a monthly series of virtual meetings and in-person events that you should plan to attend to learn more about these amazing women, their achievements, the importance of representation, and how their work impacts our families and neighborhoods. Our February meeting is Friday, Feb. 21 beginning at 4 p.m. RSVP and Watch at RepReginaYoung.com/WomenInGovernment

Civic Conversations More Important Than Ever

My first Civic Conversation of 2025 was a great discussion about how your different levels of government work for you. This information is more important to you than ever, so be sure to get educated and know how to ensure that you’re connected to the resources and information that you deserve and need for a better quality of life. I want to thank Chairman of the Philadelphia City Commissioners Omar Sabir for being present to explain about city level government and the importance of being involved. Keep an eye out for our next Civic Conversation event!

Confronting the Chaos

During our first Women in Government event, we talked a lot about the actions that are happening right now with the federal government in Washington, D.C. It has been very overwhelming with what seems like daily attacks on our neighbors, our freedoms and basic rights. Just remember that there are always people to help. If you are concerned about the actions being taken on immigration, I encourage you to contact these local organizations listed in this document. Additionally, while my office is here to assist you with state and local services, your concerns on these federal actions need to be heard by your federal officials. Check out the list of our congressional and senatorial officials and contact their offices for assistance or to let them know about your concerns. We’ve seen recently how advocacy and loud objections can lead to a course reversal or reevaluation by the president and his administration.

Don’t give up and don’t give in.

Know your rights and stay vigilant for your family and your community.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Touring the New Gateway Apartments

I had the opportunity to tour the new Gateway Towers Apartments in South Philly’s Packer Park this week. It’s a beautiful facility in a spectacular location!

Black History Month at the Art Museum

I was privileged to view the newest exhibit at the Philadelphia Art Museum, The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure, in honor of Black History Month. This signature exhibition features 28 Black and African diasporic and contemporary artists who use figurative paintings, drawings and sculpture to illuminate and celebrate the nuance and richness of Black contemporary life. It was a moving and inspirational exhibit. I encourage you to check out this limited-time exhibit at our amazing cultural icon in Philadelphia.
