Human Trafficking Awareness Month
|
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month so it’s a time to reflect on ways that we can be vigilant in our communities to increase safety. As we return to legislative session next week in the PA House, I’m re-introducing my bill to require human trafficking awareness training for service industry employees, like hotel & motel workers. Our area is unfortunately a focal point for the evils of human trafficking because of our proximity to major interstate highways and the Philadelphia International Airport. Training service industry employees to know the warning signs is a helpful way to begin reducing this horrible crime across our state. Watch the video below from our introduction last year to learn more about the effort and hear the support from legislators and industry leaders. Together we can put an end to this evil that lurks in our communities.

The new year is a perfect time to focus on your health and well-being. I'm here to help you #GoHealthy185, with Healthy Awareness Month workshops in my Delco office beginning at 6 p.m. Bring yourself, bring a friend, bring your family, and get connected with healthy practices, plus state and local resources.
Let's close out Healthy Awareness Month with a session learning and experiencing yoga on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Try something new and enjoy the relaxation and healthy benefits of yoga with our group!
Our first two events in this series were incredibly informative and exciting! Everyone enjoyed learning more about easy proper nutrition and how to keep our bodies moving.

Join the Conversation about Representation
|
I’m proud to represent a district where over 53% of the people are female. Your government should reflect who you are, so in 2025, I’m celebrating and highlighting the women who represent our communities at all levels of government. I’m hosting a monthly series of virtual meetings and in-person events that you should plan to attend to learn more about these amazing women, their achievements, the importance of representation, and how their work impacts our families and neighborhoods.
The first meeting in this series will be virtual THIS WEDNESDAY, Jan. 29 beginning at 5:30 p.m. and feature Judge Timika Lane; Ethel Waters, manager of constituent services for state Sen. Anthony H. Williams; and Tiphanie White, chief of staff for Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson’s District Office.
RSVP today to join the conversation about representation! You can also watch live on Facebook and my website.
