Making Health Insurance Affordable and Accessible
|
So far this year, more than 156,000 Pennsylvanians enrolled in the state health insurance exchange, PENNIE, have dropped their health plans due to the expiration of Affordable Care Act tax credits without federal action. That is why I am joining two of my colleagues in introducing legislation to make it easier for small businesses to provide health insurance coverage to their employees.
House Bill 2550 would establish a tax credit for small businesses, defined as those with 50 or less employees, that contribute toward their employees’ health insurance premiums through a health reimbursement arrangement for insurance purchased through PENNIE.

Ensuring Informed Maternal Care
|
Pennsylvania mothers deserve the highest quality of medical care, especially when giving birth. Lay midwives, who are unlicensed and without formal training requirements, can provide obstetric care in Pennsylvania without regulation. That’s why I have introduced legislation, HB 2520, to require transparency to Pennsylvania women who choose to receive care from lay midwives.
