Guzman announces $45K investment in Berks County

READING, April 29 – State Rep. Manny Guzman, D-Berks, announced a $45,000 state grant has been approved for the Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation to allow for the establishment of a language learning lab to be used in combination with virtual training in varied career paths for people 18 or older.

“I’m thrilled to see the state make this important and valuable investment in the Latino community in Berks County,” Guzman said. “The corporation and the program funded through this grant will help adults in numerous ways, from developing dual-language education to occupational training. Our region has skilled workers, and the Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation continues to be a resource for people to learn how to be more visible to employers, while also learning the skills needed to navigate the digital world.”

This grant is a Digital Literacy Workforce Development Grant used to promote digital literacy for people looking for work, including the ability to search and apply for online jobs, upload and submit digital copies of a resume and develop and maintain a professional profile.
