Guzman secures $125,000 in state grants

READING, Jan. 18 – State Rep. Manuel Guzman, D-Berks, today announced that $125,000 has been awarded in grant funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority to benefit the Angelica Creek Trail extension project in Reading.

The grant was awarded to:

  • Berks Nature - $125,000 for the Angelica Creek Trail Extension.

“I am glad to have helped secured this funding; this a critical project for our community,” Guzman said. “The project will extend the trail from Ken Grill Pool in a southwest direction to Shillington Park. Another significant component in this plan is that the extension will satisfy a community need for safer pedestrian walkways. I am excited about furthering this project.”

In addition to stretching the trail, the project will also address several issues identified as

urgencies from public outreach. They will install a crosswalk and ADA-compliant curbing ramps and make necessary improvements to stormwater and drainage areas.
