Guzman commends nearly $1.5 million grant for Trexler Mansion rehabilitation

READING, April 25 – State Rep. Manny Guzman, D-Berks, today announced an award of $1.45 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program funding for the ongoing rehabilitation of Reading’s historic Trexler Mansion.

The project will involve rehabilitating the iconic building for event and office space that retains the history of the building, while providing necessary upgrades that will ensure this building remains a focal point in the Reading community for years to come. The project will include repairing masonry work and restoring windows, including the stained-glass window on the main stairwell inside the building, along with replacing the front and side doors. Additionally, the 4-lane bowling alley and tap room in the basement level will be restored, and a rooftop garden terrace will be reconstructed for outdoor space.

“The Trexler Mansion has been a part of Reading’s vibrant past for over 150 years,” Guzman said. “This building is a living, breathing testament to the individuals who built this city from the ground up, and I am thrilled to see these dollars be utilized to honor their memory by ensuring the Trexler Mansion continues to be at the center of Reading’s story for generations to come.

“In my first term representing the 127th Legislative District, we have seen millions of dollars being invested to revitalize the wonderful city of Reading. I look forward to continue advocating to bring home more of these dollars that will enhance the economic health and viability of our region for the benefit of everyone,” Guzman added.
