Improving Care, Lifting Voices, and Honoring Our Community

Dear Friends,

My legislation, HR 134, was adopted by the House last week with a vote of 200 to 1!!!

This resolution directs the Joint State Government Commission to take a closer look at Pennsylvania’s home and community-based services waiver programs, including those that serve individuals with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, and other developmental disabilities.

The goal is simple. We want to better understand where these waiver programs differ, where they may fall short, and how we can make them work better for the people and families who rely on them. That includes looking at ways to streamline the application process, improve how services are delivered, and make these critical supports easier to access.

For too many Pennsylvanians, navigating the waiver system is overwhelming, confusing, and far too slow. Families should not have to fight through unnecessary barriers just to get their loved ones the care and support they need to live safely, independently, and with dignity in their communities.

HR 134 is an important step toward making our systems more responsive, more compassionate, and more accessible and I'm excited that we were able to get this across the finish line.

Pride in Our Community During Pride Month

We need to start being more accepting of one another. That’s why I went to listen and speak at a recent Horsham Township meeting, and why I was so happy to see the love and joy shared at the Pride Flag-raising.

Raising the Pride Flag is a way of telling members of the LGBTQ+ community that they have a place here. That they are seen, valued, and welcome.

I’m so proud of Horsham Township for making sure everyone in our community knows they belong. At the end of the day, community means caring about more than just ourselves.

I’m thankful my children get to grow up in a diverse community, surrounded by people with different experiences, backgrounds, and stories. Everyone deserves to feel welcome, valued, and safe being exactly who they are.

Senior Fairs a Plenty

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Rep. Ben Sanchez’s, Rep. Nancy Guenst’s and my Senior Fair! We’re grateful to all of our community partners and table vendors, including our amazing County Row Officers, who shared valuable resources, to our incredible staff teams for their hard work, and to the Operating Engineers for generously hosting us.

We were also honored to join Senator Maria Collett at her recent Senior Fair. I am always grateful for opportunities to connect with our community members, and it was inspiring to engage with everyone in such a warm and uplifting setting.

Events like this are possible because of the dedication and support of our community, and we’re so appreciative of everyone who took part.

Way to GO UD Girls Swimming and Basketball Teams!

What an incredible day at the Capitol getting to welcome the Upper Dublin High School girls’ swimming and basketball teams as we celebrated their amazing victories together!

These student athletes have shown what can happen when talent, teamwork, dedication, and heart come together. Their success is something the entire Upper Dublin community can be proud of, and it was such an honor to recognize them in Harrisburg.

Congratulations to both teams, their coaches, families, and everyone who supported them along the way. You have made Upper Dublin proud! ??????
