Dear Friends,

As promised, I am going to provide a summary of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s budget proposal for the 2025-26 fiscal year. However, before diving into the details, it's important to note the budget address is just the initial step in the budget process. Throughout this process, numerous changes and compromises will be made as it moves through various stages of review and approval.

Gov. Shapiro’s budget proposal for the 2025-26 fiscal year focuses on several key areas:

Education: Gov. Shapiro emphasized continuing investments in public education, proposing increased funding for K-12 public schools, special education, and early learning opportunities. The budget proposal aims to support teachers, create safer school environments, and provide affordable childcare.
Workforce Development: Addressing critical workforce shortages, the budget proposal includes funding for vocational-technical education, apprenticeships, and student teacher stipends. The goal is to expand Pennsylvania's workforce and ensure trained workers in key industries.
