Surgical smoke is the smoke in operating rooms caused by a cauterizing tool that burns flesh or tissue. This smoke can be harmful to inhale. This legislation would ensure that operating rooms utilize surgical smoke evacuation systems to combat the adverse health effects of surgical smoke.
