Schlossberg: S. Whitehall Twp. awarded $41,967 grant

HARRISBURG, May 17 – State Rep. Mike Schlossberg said South Whitehall Township was awarded a $41,967 grant to purchase new police vehicles.

“The South Whitehall Police Department is an important partner for safe schools in Parkland. I’m very happy to see the growing School Resource Officer unit will be able to replace old vehicles to better serve our students at Parkland High School, Orefield Middle School and Springhouse Middle. While the issues of school violence are deep and require a strong commitment, equipping our local law enforcement with tools to do the job is a critical need,” Schlossberg said.

Schlossberg said the grant was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority and provided through the Local Share Account funds that are provided to Lehigh County for projects concerning the public interest, community improvement and economic development. The grants are funded by the tax proceeds from the state’s casinos.
