Parkland schools receive state school safety grant

HARRISBURG, Feb. 26 – Parkland School District today was awarded a $45,000 grant to support and implement school safety initiatives, announced state Rep. Mike Schlossberg.

“Ongoing school safety efforts provided by grants like this one are important so that kids can concentrate on learning the subject matter before them, and teachers and school staff can work in a safe environment,” Schlossberg said.

Districts can tailor their grant requests to programs that are most helpful to their local situations such as safety and security assessments, including violence prevention, emergency preparedness and all-hazards plans, and purchase of security-related technology.

The funding is part of $53.7 million that was provided to school districts by The School Safety and Security Committee established within the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
