Policy Committee highlights supply chain solutions
Rep. Mullins hosts roundtable on economic benefits in Lackawanna County

JESSUP, Aug. 28 – The economy is driven by a reliable supply chain, a factor highlighted when the pandemic caused disruptions in global and national supply chains. The House Majority Policy Committee traveled to Lackawanna County today for a roundtable discussion with one of America’s leaders in distribution, touring McLane Co. Inc. in Jessup.
“In the wake of the pandemic, supply chain disruptions dominated the news,” roundtable host state Rep. Kyle Mullins said. “Today, we had a firsthand look at the local operation of a national leader that delivers to nearly every ZIP code in the United States. We also continued the conversation about how the supply chain has improved since the first days of 2020 and the positive effects distribution centers can have on a state or regional economy.”
The distribution center in Jessup is one of more than 80 that McLane operates in the United States. The committee heard from McLane testifiers Dave Kimberly, vice president of distribution; Lou Fauerbach, manager of distribution; John Hart, manager of human resources; Maria Kocsis, controller; and Monica Maciag, manager of government affairs.
“When a store needs to keep up with a spike in demand, companies like McLane deliver results for consumers and businesses alike,” House Majority Policy Chairman Ryan Bizzarro said. “McLane plays a vital role in Pennsylvania’s economy, supplying businesses – including retail and restaurants – while also serving an important role in the local and state economy. Local distribution centers provide family-sustaining jobs and employment opportunities.”
Founded in 1894 in Texas, McLane now employs more than 25,000 people nationwide, serving convenience stores, mass merchants and restaurant chains.
