Pielli announces $30,000 in Environmental Education Grants

WEST CHESTER, May 23 – State Rep. Chris Pielli, D-Chester, is proud to announce that $30,000 has been awarded to Stroud Water Research Center Inc.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection awarded Environmental Education grants to 56 projects throughout the commonwealth that will help communities threatened by climate change, air pollution and water pollution.

The center will use the funds for its Development of Outdoor Learning at Five School Sites: Cohort 24-25 program. In collaboration with five partner school districts, located in Chester and Philadelphia counties, the project will create curricula and support outdoor learning spaces on school campuses to provide meaningful outdoor learning opportunities for teachers and K-12 students. The learning spaces will also provide water quality and wildlife habitat benefits.

“Our future depends on the health of our environment,” Pielli said. “We are extremely lucky to be blessed with such natural beauty in Chester County. Thankfully, our neighbors want to protect and preserve it. I thank the Pennsylvania DEP for giving the Stroud Water Research Center this funding, so that our high school students can have the resources and support they need to help keep Chester County clean and healthy.”
