HARRISBURG, Nov. 21 – A $1 million state grant today was awarded to help create the PSV solar farm in Hanover Township, announced state Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski.
“This proposed solar farm project would take unused land in Hanover Township and create a 5-megawatt facility that could provide enough electricity to power between 800 and 1,000 homes in the area. That’s a wonderful opportunity for new construction jobs and the power grid,” said Pashinski, D-Luzerne. “I would like to thank Governor Tom Wolf for his support on this project and for approving the funding.”
Pashinski said the construction would include environmental remediation and engineering, grid modernization and electrical infrastructure, construction and maintenance of the facility, and pollinator friendly/landscape shields.
The grant was provided through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which is administered by Pennsylvania’s Office of the Budget. Funding goes to the acquisition and construction of economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
Today’s RACP award is in addition to others totaling $8.35 million announced by Pashinski in October. Information on those can be found here and here.
