Rep. Pashinski, Mayor Brown announce $264K Green Light-Go Grant for Wilkes-Barre City traffic signal upgrades

WILKES-BARRE, Aug. 5 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski today announced that the city of Wilkes-Barre has been awarded $264,000 through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Green Light-Go Program to improve traffic signal infrastructure at several key intersections throughout the city.
The funding will support upgrades to traffic signals at the following locations:
- Coal Street and Sherman Street
- Coal Street and Empire Street
- South Street and Franklin Street
- Mundy Street and Spring Street
- Spring Street and Sherman Street
- Northampton Street and Empire Street
“Safe and reliable transportation infrastructure is essential for our residents, businesses, and visitors,” said Pashinski. “These Green Light-Go funds will allow Wilkes-Barre City to modernize traffic signals, improve traffic flow, and enhance safety at some of our busiest intersections. I am proud to support investments that strengthen our communities and make everyday travel safer for everyone.”
The Green Light-Go Program, administered by PennDOT, provides state funding to municipalities for the operation and maintenance of traffic signals along critical corridors. Eligible projects include traffic signal upgrades, improvements to signal timing, and modernization of outdated equipment to improve efficiency and safety.
Wilkes-Barre Mayor George C. Brown welcomed the investment, noting that continued improvements to the city’s transportation network are a priority.
“The improvement of overall safety for pedestrians and drivers throughout the city is paramount,” said Brown. “This Green Light-Go funding will allow the city to incorporate the latest traffic signalization/traffic flow technology into the project, which will increase safety and mobility on our roadways.”
Pashinski said he will continue advocating for state investments that improve public safety, support local governments and enhance quality of life throughout the 121st Legislative District.
