HARRISBURG, Oct. 15 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski is alerting Pennsylvania residents to be vigilant amid a rise in Electronic Benefit Transfer card skimming incidents reported across Pennsylvania.
“Families and individuals who rely on public assistance should not have to worry about their benefits being stolen,” Pashinski said. “Unfortunately, criminals are using card skimmers to capture EBT information and drain accounts. We want everyone to know how to protect themselves and what to do if their benefits are compromised.”
People who believe their EBT card has been skimmed or compromised should:
Residents are encouraged to regularly check their EBT account balances and remain cautious when using card readers, especially at ATMs and grocery stores. Signs of tampering, such as loose card slots or hidden cameras, should be reported immediately.
“Please share this information with family, friends, and neighbors who use EBT cards,” Pashinski added. “Together, we can help protect Pennsylvanians from fraud and ensure that benefits go to those who truly need them.”
