HARRISBURG, Nov. 14 – State Rep. Robert Freeman said he is happy to see a $185,000 state grant was awarded this week for a Bushkill Creek project.
“As a longtime champion for the environment, I am always pleased when grant dollars are returned to our area for projects that will have a long-term impact on the region,” said Freeman, D-Northampton.
Wildlands Conservancy Inc. will use its $185,000 grant to restore approximately 2.3 miles of the Bushkill Creek in Easton. The work will include dam removal; streambank stabilization; installation of riparian forest buffer; and landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
Freeman said the grant was awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program. The program offers a wide range of grant and technical assistance programs to help communities, land conservancies and nonprofit organizations plan, acquire and develop recreation, park and conservation facilities; watersheds, rivers corridors, resources and buffers; greenways and trails; heritage areas and facilities; and critical habitat, natural areas and open space.
