Pashinski presents check to Wilkes University for increased campus safety

WILKES-BARRE, Aug. 2 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski today presented a check to Wilkes University.

Wilkes University will use the state funding of $155,701 for emergency response equipment upgrades to improve the overall safety on campus and to be better prepared for emergency situations. The project will include installing security cameras at three locations on campus, adding a public address speaker system at the student union building, and purchasing interagency compatible radio systems.

"Campus and student safety is critical for any community that a university calls their home,” said Pashinski. “This money will help in efforts to continue to make the campus and surrounding areas safe.”

The grant was awarded from the state’s Local Share Account provided by gaming revenue and administered through the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established in 2004 to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus programs.
