HARRISBURG, Aug. 11 – State Rep. Robert Freeman said Easton today was awarded $405,572 for updated traffic signal equipment throughout the city.
“By using the latest electronic traffic technology, we can help to ensure that motorists, pedestrians and cyclists stay safer on our city streets. These updates also will keep traffic moving efficiently,” said Freeman, D-Northampton.
The Easton project was one of 77 grants awarded statewide today through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Green Light-Go program.
Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursement to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Grant funding through the Green Light-Go program may be utilized for a range of operational improvements including, but not limited to, light-emitting diode technology installation, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, as well as upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies.
