Mullins appointed vice chairman of House Appropriations Committee

HARRISBURG, March 8 – State Rep. Kyle Mullins has been appointed to serve as the majority vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee for the 2023-24 legislative session.

“With the role of majority vice chairman comes an increased responsibility and opportunity to be a loud and leading voice for the communities I represent and the people of Pennsylvania who deserve an effective and responsive state government,” said Mullins, D-Lackawanna. “It is a great honor to take on this leadership role and I thank Chairman Jordan Harris for entrusting me with the considerable duties that come with the position.”

The Appropriations Committee is directly involved in preparing the annual state budget, which includes conducting weeks of hearings during which the numerous state agencies outline their requests and needs for the upcoming fiscal year. The committee also reviews and evaluates the governor's Executive Budget proposal each year.

The committee has jurisdiction over the offices of the Auditor General and the State Treasurer, as well as the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority.

Mullins was sworn in to his third term representing the 112th Legislative District, which includes the city of Carbondale and the townships of Carbondale, Fell and Jefferson and the boroughs of Archbald, Blakely, Dunmore, Jermyn, Jessup, Mayfield, Olyphant, Throop and Vandling.
