I am happy to announce that Summer Pop-Up Offices are back! My staff and I are excited to bring state services and constituent assistance directly into the communities throughout the district.
|
These events are our way of bringing the office to you – making it easier to connect with our team, ask questions, and get help with state-related issues closer to home. Residents can receive assistance with services including Senior Connect bus pass applications, veteran’s services, birth and death certificate requests, PennDOT matters and much more.
This is just the first of our summer pop-ups, with more to follow in July and August! Watch this space and our social media for times and locations as they are announced.

My Healthcare Tax Credit legislation
advances through committee!
|
I’d like to give a huge thank you to the House Finance Committee for voting today to advance my House Bill 2550 to the House chamber.
Introduced alongside my co-prime sponsors, Rep. Arvind Venkat and Finance Committee Chair, Rep. Steve Samuelson, this bill would help address gaps left by Affordable Care Act cuts, particularly in the Commonwealth’s small business community.
H.B. 2550 would establish the Small Business Health Care Premiums Contribution Tax Credit, allowing small business owners to claim a tax credit for contributing to their employees’ health insurance premiums. Prior to the vote, the committee heard testimony from several experts during a May 20 hearing.
I deeply appreciate everyone who testified during the hearing, and all my colleagues in the committee, for their support on this critical issue. I hope the full House will also vote to support our small businesses.

One rising junior or senior will make the trip with us to a special session of the House on Sept. 9 in Philadelphia!
My office will select one student who writes a 1-2 page essay proposing a kind of policy or legislation and its importance to our district. I look forward to reading all of these entries, as it’s so great to see our youth take interest in our democratic process! Make sure to submit your entry by June 10.

Senior Farmers Market Voucher Program
now open in Allegheny County
|
My team and I are ready to help eligible seniors apply for Farmers Market Vouchers through the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging 2026 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
The program provides vouchers that can be used at participating farmers’ markets to purchase fresh, Pennsylvania-grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs—helping older adults stretch their grocery budgets while supporting local farmers and agriculture.
To be eligible for the program, you must be an age 60 or older resident of Allegheny County who meets income guidelines. Married couples may receive one set of vouchers for each individual.
Voucher distribution began on June 1, but you still have plenty of time! Residents can apply for Farmers Market vouchers up until September 15. You can apply online or simply stop in our office.

Aside from my H.B. 2550, there were several other bills of note that had movement in Harrisburg this week.
On Monday, House Bill 2186 advanced through the House, which would remove barriers to the creation of Accessory Dwelling Units in the Commonwealth. I co-sponsored this bill because these units, smaller independent living spaces on the same lot as a single-family home, would increase housing availability and prioritize affordability. This legislation would grant individuals the right to create ADUs, while still allowing municipalities to make reasonable restrictions.
Also on Monday, the House Energy Committee held a public hearing on House Bill 2380, which would aim to reduce utility bills by utilizing grid-scale battery storage. Utilizing these battery storage systems are a cost-effective alternative to balance energy supply and demand, offsetting costs for utility customers particularly during high-use hours, and I’m happy to have co-sponsored this bill.
Another bill I co-sponsored, House Bill 1678, was voted out of the Finance Committee today. This legislation is a digital advertising tax that would make the biggest corporations pay their fare share to do business in the Commonwealth, modernizing our gross receipt tax for the digital age. The bill is part of the Tax Billionaires, Fund PA revenue plan and similar legislation has been successful for our southern neighbors in Mayland.

Finally, I wanted to share a few highlights from last week!
I was thrilled to welcome artist Emily Goff of Castle Shannon to our office. Emily created a beautiful piece she calls Small Town, capturing the character of Castle Shannon through a familiar view of Willow Avenue and a nod to public transit, which I am proud to support. I'm grateful to have Emily's work on display as part of our effort to showcase the talent and communities that make the district such a special place to live and work; and I'm still working to complete our office gallery.
In Dormont, I was able to pop into the Dormont Library for its 90th birthday celebration, where I had the opportunity to meet with former colleagues and catch up with friends and neighbors; and over the weekend, my team and I enjoyed spending time at Castle Shannon Community Days in Hamilton Park.
