Hello to District 42!

Hello District 42!

I hope this email finds you well. I’m writing to introduce myself as your new Representative in Pennsylvania House District 42.

My name is Jen Mazzocco, and I won the Special Election on February 24th to fill the remainder of the term our previous State Representative, Dan Miller, who is now a Judge in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. My swearing in took place on Monday in Harrisburg.

I live in Dormont with my husband and two daughters. I have spent my career and community life in public service. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011 and have been an English teacher at Allderdice High School for the past 15 years. I’ve been the debate team coach and National Honor Society sponsor, and I’ve served my colleagues as a building representative, executive board member, and political action committee chair in my union, the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers.

I’ve also spent over eight years as a member of the Borough of Dormont Council and several years as a board member of the Dormont Community Development Corporation, where I worked to plan our Dormont Pride event and co-chair the Dormont Free Pantry.

All this experience has shaped my values and will guide my work as a legislator. I’ll fight for strong public schools that serve all our children, policies that support working families like affordable healthcare, childcare, and housing, and bringing resources to the district to strengthen our already very livable communities.

The district office is in the same location as before at 650 Washington Road, Suite 102, in Mt. Lebanon. You are welcome to stop in between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. You can also reach us by phone at 412-343-3870, or online at RepMazzocco.com.

As in the past, we are happy to help you with a variety of state services, including assistance with Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program forms; senior bus passes; PennDOT problems or questions; PACE and PACENET forms; voter registration forms and absentee ballot applications; and much more.

I also wanted to share that we will continue our involvement with the annual Disability and Mental Health Summit (now in its 13th year) and with the South Hills Futures Fair.

More specific information will come soon, but this year will continue the strong tradition of these one-of-a-kind, free opportunities to learn from and connect with self-advocates, parents, community organizations, and legislators about the state of disability and mental health in the Commonwealth. I’m proud to work with Representatives Jessica Benham and Emily Kinkead to continue this amazing resource that Rep. Miller started many years ago.

I’m looking forward to serving you. Please reach out with any questions, concerns, or just to say hello!

Best,

Jen
