Malagari celebrates infrastructure grants for Montco

SOUDERTON, March 16 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, today announced that four grants totaling $1.3 million have been awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority for infrastructure projects in his district.
“Faulty infrastructure not only costs taxpayer dollars but jeopardizes public safety and health,” Malagari said. “These investments will play a major role in keeping our communities safer, our water cleaner, and our sewer systems up to code.”
The funding comes from The Multimodal Transportation Fund and the Statewide Local Share Account Program. The following projects have received funding:
Hatfield Township - Hatfield Public Safety Facility - $150,000
Hatfield Township has been awarded LSA funds to develop a preliminary site and building design for a public safety facility to replace the existing building, which requires numerous repairs and upgrades to maintain functionality. The township has purchased several parcels of land on which to build a public safety facility and will use the funding to determine building needs and the best location.
Lansdale Borough- Wastewater Treatment Plant Blower & Aeration System Upgrades - $500,000
The Borough of Lansdale has been awarded LSA funds to make upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant. The grant will be used for demolition, excavation, grading, construction, engineering, inspection, and administration costs. The total project cost is $2.145 million, $1.145 million of which has been committed to by the Borough of Lansdale.
Hatfield Township - Hatfield Stormwater Management Study - $200,000
Hatfield Township has been awarded LSA funds to complete a comprehensive stormwater study that will assess existing stormwater conditions of the township and borough it surrounds. The assessment will be developed through discussions with stakeholders, gathering of public input, and review of any relevant prior studies and plans. This guidance will allow the township and borough to steadily implement essential stormwater improvements.
Lansdale Borough - Salford & Derstine Avenue Pedestrian & Drainage Improvements - $450,000
The Borough of Lansdale has been awarded Multimodal Transportation funds for pedestrian and drainage improvements along Salford and Derstine Avenues located in Lansdale Borough.
