Malagari announces $82,500 in grants

Lansdale Borough and Souderton Borough Police Department approved for state funding

HARRISBURG, Jan. 25 - Working alongside his district’s municipal leaders and first responders to provide the help and funds they need, state Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, announced two grants totaling more than $80,000 have been approved for projects in his district.

“Working closely with local officials to identify important needs, it became clear our area could improve the efficiency and effectiveness of emergency management capabilities, as well as take measures to improve roadway safety,” Malagari said. “The grants approved today will help our area respond to emergencies by improving the time and resources needed, as well as address the need to keep residents safe on local roadways.”

The grants approved are:

  • $59,150, Lansdale Borough: Funds will be used to purchase a pickup truck and emergency management equipment to improve efficiency and effectiveness in responding to emergency situations.
  • $23,350, Souderton Borough Police Department: Funds will be used to purchase traffic equipment needed for the department to study traffic flow, as well as monitor vehicle speed.

Malagari was instrumental in securing the funds needed from the Department of Economic and Community Development to fund both projects.
