HARRISBURG, Nov. 19 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, announced three grants awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority today to improve recreational and transportation infrastructure in the legislative district he represents.
Landsdale Borough was awarded a $20,217 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant to update Stony Creek Park. The project will fund repair of the existing paved driveway and installation of a paved parking lot in place of the current gravel parking lot. It will also fund installation of ADA parking spaces and an ADA-compliant curb ramp, as well as a rain garden to manage stormwater runoff.
Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program funds can be used to develop, rehabilitate and improve public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails and river conservation.
“I’m pleased to see so many investments being made by the state to improve recreational and transportation needs in our district,” Malagari said. “These projects will bring necessary updates and changes to these municipalities, making them safer and better for these communities.”
Hatfield Borough was awarded $228,321 through the Multimodal Transportation Fund. This grant will help the borough improve two pedestrian crossings. The first is on West Broad Street at the Liberty Bell Trail crossing. The second is on West Broad Street near the intersection with Towamencin Avenue. The improvements include adding flashing lights, updated ADA curb ramps, new and improved signs, and pavement markings.
The CFA also awarded Hatfield Township $446,500 under the Multimodal Transportation Fund. This grant will assist with the preliminary engineering for improvements at the Welsh Road and Orvilla Road intersection. This includes topographic surveying, environmental assessment, and HOP design and permitting.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation.
