Malagari announces $56K in Safe School grants

LANSDALE, Nov. 16 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, today announced that three schools throughout his legislative district received a collective $56,381 in Safe School grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Grants have been awarded as follows:

  • North Penn School District: $23,500.
  • Souderton Area School District: $9,087.
  • Lansdale Catholic High School: $23,794.

Each school received an equipment grant, which may go toward purchasing security-related technology such as metal detectors, protective lighting, surveillance equipment, special emergency communications equipment, electronic locksets, deadbolts and theft control devices.

“In order for students to learn and get the most out of their education, they need to feel safe while they’re at school,” Malagari said. “These grants will go a long way in not only enhancing the safety and security of our area’s schools, but they’ll also help ensure that students can reach their full potential.”
