King of Prussia Driver License Center to hold REAL ID Day on Monday

MERION STATION, Feb. 27 – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will host a REAL ID Day at the King of Prussia Driver License Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, March 3.

The King of Prussia Driver License Center is located at 143 South Gulph Road in King of Prussia.

State Rep. Mary Jo Daley is encouraging Pennsylvanians who would like to obtain a REAL ID to take advantage of these special hours.

“I thank PennDOT for recognizing the importance of the REAL ID deadline and the measures it’s taken to help Pennsylvanians access their services,” said Daley, D-Montgomery.

Not everyone needs a REAL ID; It depends on a person’s travel and identification needs. Starting May 7, a REAL ID or another TSA-approved identification (such as a passport) will be required to board domestic flights and enter certain federal facilities.

You do not need a REAL ID if:

  • You have a valid U.S. Passport.
  • You have another federally accepted form of ID (such as a military ID).
  • You do not plan to fly or enter federal facilities that require it.

“If you plan to travel by air within the U.S. after May 7th, and do not have a passport or qualifying federal ID, getting a REAL ID could be a good idea. Otherwise, it’s optional,” Daley said.
