Menstrual equity means ensuring that everyone who menstruates has the products they need, when they need them, without stigma or financial burden. Too many individuals are forced to choose between buying food and buying pads or tampons. This is not just a women's issue; it's a human rights issue!
I toured the Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Center in Philadelphia on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2024. During the tour, we had the opportunity to learn about the amazing programs the training facility offers and how it is helping prepare the next generation of skilled workers.
The House Tourism & Economic Recreational Development Committe, Chaired by Rep. Mary Jo Daley, held a hearing a Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia about Rep. Tarik Khan's "Michael's Law" bill. This bill, which would require venues to waive admission fees for personal care attendants, was introduced honor of Michael Anderson, a Pennsylvania man with cerebral palsy, who was forced to pay a dual fee for entrance to a local museum because he required a paid personal-care aide to accompany him. Michael was one of the testifiers at this hearing.
The House Majority Policy Committee joined members of the House Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development Committee for a tour and discussion on tourism and its economic impact on the York region and state.
It was a fantastic pleasure to pursue happiness in Northeast PA with the House Tourism Committee this summer! We went to Hickory Run State Park, Dingman Falls, water parks, gas station bathrooms, and more as we took our work on the road learning about the important tourism investments being counted on in Northeast Pennsylvania and across the commonwealth.
