Paper Shredding Event in Penn Valley is April 6; Meet the Rep Event is Friday

I helped release a new wildlife conservation report from the Capitol this month. Read on for more.

Dear Neighbor,

I’d like to remind you that my Paper Shredding Event is April 6.

If you have papers and documents that need securely shredded and recycled, then my free Paper Shredding Event is for you. Join me for a free shred event Sunday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to noon (or until the truck is full) at Har Zion Temple, 1500 Hagys Ford Road, Penn Valley.

For more information, please contact my district office at repmaryjodaley@pahouse.net or (610) 832-1679.

Meanwhile, thank you to all the veterans and partners who made my Veterans Tribute Lunch such a wonderful event this month!

Special thanks to Spring Mill Fire Company No.1 for use of their ballroom, and the Valley Forge Military Academy & College Color Guard for their moving ceremony.

And finally, thank you to West Point alum, combat veteran and pilot Ashley Ehasz for her keynote speech. I feel as though everyone was moved by the luncheon, myself especially. It's an honor representing your needs as veterans in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Thank you to all the veterans for your input and selfless service to our country!

In legislative news, this week in House session, I’m proud to report that I voted to make sure health care under the Affordable Care Act is protected in Pennsylvania. The Affordable Care Act has saved lives, protected people and grown our economy here in Pennsylvania, but the ACA is under constant attack at the federal level.

Thanks to the ACA and our work in the legislature to create Pennie, nearly every Pennsylvanian is covered with high-quality, affordable health insurance.

Health care should not be a luxury and neither should access to basic services that most of us take for granted. By protecting access to these services, we’re protecting the health of our neighbors, our families and our friends – today and tomorrow. You can tell the Pennsylvania Senate to concur with our bills here.

I’m also pleased to share that we had a fantastic St. Patrick’s Day in the Capitol thanks to The Doherty Petri Lancaster School of Irish Dance. The studio was founded in 2015 by Esther Pujol. Students from it have danced in over 200+ performances in the surrounding areas from nursing homes to concerts with Celtic bands from Ireland.

These young people are absolutely amazing to see, and I thank them for sharing their craft with us!

As a descendant of Irish immigrants, I am deeply grateful for their courage and determination. Irish immigrants’ hard work helped shape this nation, just as countless new Americans continue to do today.

Last week in the Capitol as well, I was proud to join state Rep. Jason Ortitay to release a new wildlife corridor and conservation report. The new report from PennEnvironment highlights innovative wildlife corridor projects around the state that protect PA's native wildlife & aids conservation efforts. This is in addition to our efforts from last year to better protect wildlife and safeguard ecosystems in PA.

Meanwhile, in the district, state Sen. Amanda Cappelletti and I visited the Jewish Relief Agency Warehouse this morning. The Jewish Relief Agency brings together people of all means, ages and backgrounds to address the community needs. Many thanks for letting us visit and teaching us more about your operations!
