CELEBRATING AMERICA’S 250TH!

America's 250th will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026.

As a member of the Infrastructure Improvements and Projects Committee of America250PA, I'm excited about what we're doing statewide. America250PA, working with partners across Pennsylvania and the nation, is launching free and low-cost events this summer to help communities celebrate America's 250th birthday in a way that's accessible to everyone. Find our full list of activities here.

Pittsburgh is celebrating with a week of festivities leading up to July 4 and the largest fireworks display in the region's history. Learn more about events here and click here to find a celebration near you.

I hope you have a safe and happy Independence Day! My office will be closing at noon on Thursday, July 2 and reopen on Tuesday, July 7 for the holiday.

FISH FOR FREE ON THE FOURTH

As Chair of the Game and Fisheries Committee for the House of Representatives, I want to offer a reminder that July 4, is a "Fish-for-Free Day" here in Pennsylvania.

This day allows anyone (resident or non-resident) ?to legally fish on Pennsylvania's waterways with NO FISHING LICENSE REQUIRED. I would note that this also means that Trout/Salmon and Lake Erie permits are NOT required. All other fishing regulations still apply.?

Fish-for-Free Days are great ways for families to “catch” the fun of fishing and is a great way to help celebrate the birthday of our nation!

DELIVERING FOR YOU AT THE CAPITOL

My House colleagues and I recently passed important bills that will help our neighbors and improve communities.

Data centers are already operating in Pennsylvania, with more proposed each month. We need to ensure local residents and taxpayers are protected, and that communities have a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their future.

We're holding Big Tech accountable through the following legislation:

We’re saving consumers money and reining in utility profits by changing how the Public Utility Commission decides how much money investor-owned utilities can earn in rate cases. This will help prevent utilities from seeking excessive rates that hurt all consumers (H.B. 2224).

We’re protecting consumers from scams by banning state agencies and the Turnpike from sending text messages without the recipient’s consent regarding unpaid fines, fees, tolls, or other charges (H.B. 2551).

We’re helping towns and merchants deal with the penny shortage by letting them round cash transactions to the nearest nickel (H.B. 2388).

We’re supporting families by establishing a new state program to gather important information on pregnancy, childbirth and infant health to identify risks and improve care (H.B. 2621).

These bills now head to the state Senate for consideration.
