PROTECTING ESSENTIAL HEALTH CARE COVERAGE

I recently stood with my fellow House members from both sides of the aisle to ensure that Pennsylvanians maintain access to essential health care coverage, despite what happens at the federal level.

The PA House passed a package of four bills that would make sure you’re covered.

There are a half-million Pennsylvanians who finally have affordable health insurance via the Affordable Care Act and Pennie, the state’s health insurance marketplace. I’m proud to fight for them and their families – and our economy with health care jobs that you can’t outsource.

HOUSE GAME & FISHERIES COMMITTEE UPDATE

Last week, I chaired the House Game & Fisheries Committee meeting. I’m pleased to report that my bill on abandoned and derelict boats passed out of committee. This bill would aid local police and municipalities in dealing with the growing problem of abandoned boats on our rivers and streams. The committee also approved a bill that would heighten the penalties for the release of dangerous species.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT PA’S CHILD AND DEPENDENT CARE TAX CREDIT THIS TAX SEASON

Filing your taxes? Have child or dependent care expenses? You might qualify for up to $2,100 BACK IN YOUR POCKET!

Paying for child or dependent care is one of the biggest expenses impacting working families here in Allegheny County. That’s why I was proud to support a law that more than tripled the amount of money that could go back in your pocket with the Child & Dependent Care Enhancement Tax Credit.

When you’re filing your state taxes this year get the facts about the program or call my office to find out more.
