State Grant Programs Now Open for Applications

STATE GRANT PROGRAMS NOW OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS:

Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency: FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure & Communities (replaces FEMA Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant)  (Funding Source: Federal Funding )

Who May Apply: Local governments with a FEMA-approved Local Hazard Mitigation Plan are eligible to apply to PEMA as sub-applicants. Individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations are not eligible to apply for funds; however, an eligible sub-applicant may apply for funding on behalf of individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations. PEMA will be the statewide applicant.

Use: Pre-disaster mitigation activities.

Application Deadline: Letters of Interest (required step) must be sent to PEMA by 5pm October 15, 2020.  Completed applications to PEMA are due 5pm November 18, 2020.

Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency: FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance  (Funding Source: Federal Funding)

Who May Apply: Local governments participating in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) may apply to PEMA as sub-applicants. PEMA will be the statewide applicant.

Use: Project scoping, community flood mitigation projects, technical assistance, flood hazard mitigation planning, and individual flood mitigation projects that reduce claims to the NFIP program.

Application Deadline: Letters of Interest (required step) must be sent to PEMA by 5pm October 15, 2020.  Completed applications to PEMA are due 5pm November 18, 2020.

  • PDE Food Service Equipment Grants: October 2  (Funding Source: U.S. Department of Agriculture)
  • School districts, charter schools, and nonpublic schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program. - To purchase equipment.
  • PEDA COVID-19 Restart Grants: October 2  (Funding Source: Growing Greener Bond Fund/Energy Development Fund)
  • PA businesses; nonprofits; schools, colleges, universities; municipalities; and public authorities. - To assist with the completion of eligible energy projects initiated but then disrupted due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
  • L&I Direct Care Worker Training Grants: October 2  (Funding Source: Reemployment Fund)
  • Local workforce development boards, non-profit and non-governmental entities, community-based organizations, education and post-secondary organizations, healthcare organizations, labor organizations, business associations, trade associations of long-term services and supports providers, and economic development entities. - To create and develop training programs that increase the quality of services, offer specialty certifications, and create viable career opportunities for personal care assistants, home health aides and certified nursing assistants.

  • Public and private colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions. - Programs and initiatives to increase awareness, education, and resources to combat sexual assault.
  • PHMC Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program: October 14  (Funding Source: Funding source: General Fund/ Cultural and Historical Support Appropriation)
  • Museums and official county historical societies. - General operating support.
  • PCCD Law Enforcement and Corrections Body-Worn Camera Program: October 15  (Funding Source: Federal Funding)
  • Regional police departments, municipal law enforcement agencies, and PA counties. - Camera systems, data storage, and other costs to implement or expand a body-worn camera program.
  • DEP Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Watershed Grants: October 23  (Funding Source: Federal Funding – US EPA)
  • Watershed associations, counties, municipalities, municipal authorities, councils of government, conservation districts, educational institutions, and nonprofits. - Projects to address nonpoint source pollution originating from agricultural activities, abandoned mine drainage, stormwater runoff, and streambank and degradation.

  • DEP Alternative Fuels Incentive Vehicle Grant: December 11  (Funding Source: Alternative Fuels Incentive Grants Fund)
  • School districts, municipal authorities, municipalities, nonprofits, private businesses. - Purchase or retrofit vehicles to operate on alternative fuels, purchase and install refueling equipment, and research or develop new technologies.
