Krueger announces $1.8 million in state funds for local improvement projects

BROOKHAVEN, Sept. 15 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, today announced $1.8 million in state funds awarded to projects throughout her district that will improve ADA access, upgrade water and sewer infrastructure and help maintain township buildings.

The grants awarded include:

  • $650,000 to Middletown Township Sewer Authority to construct a new pump station, force main and sewer upgrades.
  • $646,067 to Brookhaven Borough for accessibility improvements to Memorial, Samson and Our Lady of Charity parks, including ADA compliant parking, accessible paths and signage.
  • $267,690 to Middletown Township to replace windows and repoint masonry on the east wing of the Roosevelt Community Center.
  • $150,000 to Chester Water Authority to modernize water systems in Aston Township and Brookhaven Borough.
  • $100,000 to Chester Township to upgrade The Wilson Center and improve accessibility throughout the municipal complex.

“LSA funds offer local projects financial support to ensure infrastructure is maintained and modernized as needed, and to ensure all residents have access to the public services and areas their communities offer,” said Krueger. “I am pleased to see so many projects improving ADA access selected in this round of grant awards – these upgrades will give more people better access to our parks and community buildings. And the improvements to our water and sewer systems are much needed and anticipated.”

The grants come from Local Share Account funds which are approved and distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
