Krueger announces $354,000 in state funding for local projects

HARRISBURG, Nov. 12 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, today announced $354,000 in state grants that will help lay the groundwork for recreational opportunities in the Delco communities she represents.

“Bringing our tax dollars back home for projects that offer people safe and accessible spaces to enjoy the great outdoors is important for our communities and is one of my priorities as a state legislator,” Krueger said. “Ideas for these projects have been in place for a while, but this funding was needed to move them forward. I am glad to see it come through for our region.”

Grants awarded in Krueger’s 161st Legislative District include:

  • $304,000 to Ridley Township to further the development of Blackrock Park. The grant will fund the construction of pedestrian walkways and the parking area; installation of lighting, utilities and stormwater management measures; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

  • $50,000 to Pendle Hill School to conduct community education programs on urban and community tree planting.

Krueger voted to provide the funding necessary to support the grants, which are administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program, known as C2P2. The program offers a wide range of grant and technical assistance programs to help Pennsylvania communities, land conservancies and non-profit organizations plan, acquire, and develop recreation, park and conservation facilities; watersheds, rivers corridors, resources and buffers; greenways and trails; heritage areas and facilities; and critical habitat, natural areas and open space.
