HARRISBURG, Nov. 1 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger today announced that another $500,000 in state grant funding is headed to Aston Township for its new police and municipal complex building and a new grant of $750,000 to help the Hedgerow Theater Co. make its community resource more accessible.
The $500,000 grant for Aston Township is in addition to a $600,000 state grant Krueger helped to secure last month to help with the construction phase of its two-story, 21,735 square-foot complex, for a total of $1.1 million.
Krueger said Hedgerow Theatre Co. in Rose Valley Borough will use its $750,000 grant to renovate the lobby spaces for access to the upper floors, along with renovation of the backstage and dressing room areas to ensure access for artists, students and staff. The theater has three floors, but only the first floor is wheelchair accessible.
“I work hard to bring tax dollars back home to invest in projects for the residents and municipalities I serve,” Krueger, D-Delaware, said. “Aston’s new police department and municipal building will be at the center of town, creating a convenient one-stop location providing easy access for community services. Likewise, Hedgerow Theater leadership have been working hard to improve their space for patrons and artists alike. I was delighted to connect them with this funding that will make the theater accessible to more people.
“This is what effective government service looks like -- state lawmakers working closely with local officials and organizations to secure the funding and resources needed to make our communities better,” she said.
The funding was approved today under Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, a grant program dedicated for the design, acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects have a regional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.
