Rep. Krueger and Sen. Kane to host free shredding event in October

ASTON, Oct. 5 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, and state Sen. John Kane, D-Delaware/Chester, will host a free shredding and drug take back event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct.14.

The event will take place in the Northley Middle School parking lot, located at 2801 Concord Road.

Residents may bring up to four boxes of documents containing personal information. Additionally, the Delaware County District Attorney's Mobile Drug Collection Unit will be onsite collecting unwanted medications for proper disposal.

Electronics will not be accepted at this event.

“I'm honored to host events like this one for residents, and I'm delighted Senator Kane can join us once more. It is critical to have a secure and simple method for disposing of confidential information and unused medication,” Krueger said. “Shredding events are one of the best ways to ensure that your confidential and sensitive documents are properly disposed of and not used without your knowledge. We've also seen unused and forgotten-about medications brought to our takeback events to save the lives of those struggling with opioid addiction and to prevent prescription drug abuse.”

The event is open to all residents of the 161st Legislative District, but no businesses.

"Protecting the privacy of our constituents is of utmost importance, and this event provides one of the safest and most secure ways to dispose of sensitive documents," Kane said. "I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and join us in our efforts to prevent identity theft and safeguard personal information."
