Krueger announces more than $182K in state funding for community conservation projects

HARRISBURG, Oct. 6 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, announced today that Chester Township has been awarded $125,000 and Pendle Hill School, $57,600 in state funding by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

“Modern, safe, and accessible parks are an asset to any community. They serve as areas for people of all ages and abilities to connect with one another, make memories and enjoy the beauty of our area,” Krueger said. “I’m grateful to our municipalities for applying for this funding and proud to see this investment in the 161st Legislative District, as these projects will create new recreational opportunities and improve quality of life for residents of these townships and beyond.”

The grant money will be used for the following projects:

  • $125,000 for Chester Township for rehabilitation and further development of Jacks Park in Chester Township, Delaware County. Work will include renovation of parking area; construction of pedestrian walkways and stormwater management measures; installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • $57,600 for Pendle Hill School to coordinate the school’s TreeVitalize program for years 2024-2025; engage students and community members in planting and caring for trees in Delaware County; build local tree stewardship capacity; and complete a hazard tree inventory.
