Krueger issues statement on charges related to Mariner East 2

HARRISBURG, Oct. 5 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger issued the following statement today regarding charges filed against Energy Transfer, related to the Mariner East 2 pipeline project:

“For nearly six years, residents and families in Delaware and Chester counties have had their daily lives upended by the construction of the Mariner East II pipeline. The construction of this pipeline has been defined by destroyed property, sinkholes, irreparable damage to homes, displaced families, and poisoned drinking water, followed by regulatory slaps on the wrist. Today, the first step toward real justice for our communities was begun thanks to the persistence of environmental activists, local officials, and affected families who never backed down in the face of opposition from a $100 billion public corporation based out of state. Thanks also to Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro who has proven that he is willing to hold even the most powerful to account when they harm the citizens or natural beauty of our commonwealth.”
