HARRISBURG, July 7 – In an effort to improve infrastructure, including alleviating traffic congestion, state lawmakers announced Ridley Township has been approved for a pair of grants through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s “Green Light-Go” program.
“The ‘Green Light-Go’ program rewards municipalities for identifying areas where traffic flow and safety can be improved,” said Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware. “Ridley Township should be applauded for taking the proactive steps needed to receive reimbursement for work that will better our communities.”
Ridley Township has been approved for a pair of projects, including:
- $65,532 for upgraded detection at the Stewart Avenue & I-95 interchange.
- $417,576 for upgraded detection and pedestrian signals at several intersections (Morton Avenue and 9th Avenue; Fairview Road and Parklane Road; Fairview Road and Jefferson Avenue).
“Ridley Township addressed an issue that continues to pop up in cities and municipalities across our state,” said Rep. Dave Delloso, D-Delaware. “I’m proud to see Ridley Township receive funding for these projects since it searched out avenues to improve ease of travel while also providing increased safety for residents.”
Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursement to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals.
Grant funding through the Green Light-Go program may be utilized for a range of operational improvements including, but not limited to light-emitting diode (LED) technology installation, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, as well as upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies.
