More than $1.8 million coming back to the 161st

I’m always happy to help bring state funding back to our district, and I’m excited to share that more than $1.8 million has been awarded for projects in the 161st District.

That funding includes:

  • $646,067 to Brookhaven Borough to support accessibility improvements at Brookhaven Memorial, Samson and Our Lady of Charity parks.
  • $100,000 to Chester Township to support updates to its municipal complex.
  • $150,000 to Chester Water Authority to modernize water systems in Aston Township and Brookhaven Borough.
  • $267,690 to Middletown Township to replace existing windows and repoint masonry at the Roosevelt Community Center.
  • $650,000 to Middletown Township Sewer Authority to construct a new pump station and mains and make upgrades to the sewer system.

I’m proud to support investments like these that help our local communities make important infrastructure improvements and strengthen the public spaces our residents use every day.

Historic Pennsylvania House Session

Video

Last Wednesday, I joined my House colleagues in Congress Hall for a historic session commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the 250th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Constitution.

Some of the U.S. Constitution's most enduring principles were inspired by Pennsylvania's Constitution, adopted in September 1776. I was honored to take part in this historic legislative session commemorating America's 250th birthday and celebrating Pennsylvania's lasting contribution to our nation's founding!

Tour of Bryn Mawr College

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit Bryn Mawr College for a tour of its beautiful campus. It was a perfect day to be outside and see some places and traditions that make Bryn Mawr so special. I also appreciated the opportunity to meet President Wendy Cadge, who has Delco roots and graduated from Springfield High School.

During the tour, I met with a student tour guide who showed me around campus, including Park Science Center. I also learned about some of Bryn Mawr’s unique traditions and landmarks, including the beloved statue of Athena in Great Hall in Old Library.

We also visited the courtyard of the Cloisters, where I had the chance to learn about the ARCH installation, “Don’t Forget to Remember (Me).” The installation honors the labor of Black domestic workers, porters, and other staff who worked at the college in the early 1900s.

It was a wonderful visit, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about Bryn Mawr’s history and campus community.

Honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11

Remembrance ceremony in Brookhaven Borough

9/11 service in Aston Township

Delaware County 9/11 ceremony

It was a privilege to join our first responders, elected officials, and community members at several September 11 remembrance ceremonies last Friday. I was honored to take part in Delaware County’s observance at Rose Tree Park and to speak at services in Brookhaven Borough and Aston Township.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor the lives lost, remember the bravery and sacrifice of our first responders, and reflect on the way our country came together.

Programs & Services

Pennie Open Enrollment

Pennsylvania's health insurance marketplace, Pennie, had planned for a shortened Open Enrollment period this year due to recent federal regulation changes; however, those changes were invalidated recently by a lawsuit. That means Pennie gets to revert its open enrollment dates back to the dates it's had every year prior.

Open Enrollment 2027 will start on November 1, 2026, and will end on January 15, 2027. Plan selections from 11/1 - 12/15 will have coverage starting 1/1. Plan selections between 12/16 - 1/15 will be effective 2/1.
